Martin Auto Museum Toy Drive/Car Show and Mixteca Cruise-in    Dec 6th Glendale

Annual Picnic at Usery Mountain Regional Park in Mesa

We had very light rain clearing the area at sunrise Sunday morning but by picnic time, the threat of rain was over and we had a beautiful day in the park. There were 8 Corvairs on display and about 23 attendees. The beef brisket was great and all the fixins were tasty and plentiful. After lunch, everyone was invited to introduce themselves and tell a few stories about their own Corvair history. The raffle was quite popular with about a dozen prizes handed out including a nice "145236" firing order sign made and donated by Scott and a bucket of car care supplies donated by Gary. The club also gave away some club shirts, scented candles and four thermo tumblers. Five late models dominated the car display but the FC's had a run at it with a 61, 62 and 64 in the mix. Unfortunately, no early model cars made the event this year. Several were reported down with brake or fuel problems so we hope to see those soon, maybe at the Dec 6th events. Thanks to everyone who helped and brought raffle donations, food items, firewood, etc. It was a relaxing day with friends and we felt like we had the whole park to ourselves. -Dave W.

Cave Creek Car Show Oct 4th 2025

Jim, Al, Chris and Bob attended the Cave Creek Car Show on October 4th. This was a show that was spead out along a 1.5 mile length of Cave Creek Road and had at least 17 locations to stop and display vehicles and support local vendors. Photos by Al and Chris. I believe the red 65 belongs to Tom Miner.

Concours in the Hills  April 19th 2025

We had 9 Corvairs at the show and perfect weather. Spectator traffic was heavy all day and we stayed until almost 3:30. It was great to hear all the Corvair stories and watch people reminisce about the Corvairs they used to own. We even had one gentleman comment that he used to ferry kids around at summer camp back in the 60's in a Greenbrier when he was 19. Seeing a Corvair again really brought back the memories for him. Cathy handed out probably 100 Easter bunnies and Easter eggs to the children passing by.

37th Annual Chevy Showdown  Tucson April 5th 2025

Cathy and I ventured down south to the 37th Annual Chevy Showdown again this year just south of Tucson at the Desert Diamonds Casino in Sahuarita. Our 64 Greenbrier made the trip with no hiccups. Other than some cold toes on the early morning drive and a bit of wind in the afternoon, it was a beautiful day. The Greenbrier has no heat currently and it was only about 45F outside as we gained altitude approaching Oro Valley from the old AZ-79 highway route. There were six Corvairs in the show and one Devin C (Corvair powered). Our ride got second place in the Corvair category but that's kind of easy to do when most of the other Corvair owners opted out of being judged since they help run the show. We didn't win any raffle goodies but that's pretty much our usual luck. The 1/2 lb burgers served for lunch were awesome and a better deal than most fast food these days. The Classic Chevy Club of Tucson puts on a great show each year and it's always a nice time spending the day with our Corvair friends. Like at our own club shows, there were several Tucson club members without their Corvairs at the show. Mike L. is nearing completion on his LM coupe. Brad is still assembling his LM after getting it painted. Mike from Oro Valley sold his two LM Corvairs but is now restoring a 1960.

Arizona Corvair Cruise-in  March 1st 2025

We had 30 Corvairs at the event this year, tying our record from last year. We saw several Corvairs that were new to the show and a few club favorite cars were missing. It was a very windy but beautiful day in Scottsdale and all drivers went home with a free event T-shirt and raffle prize.

Mixteca "A Corvair Afternoon" in Glendale Feb 15th

13 Corvairs appeared this day but I missed getting a photo of one. Yes, there were three Butternut Yellow Corvairs at the meet.
